Obesity Alert!: At What Weight Should I Start Dieting And Lose Weight?

acai berry african mangoAs regular people, we always have the tendency to procrastinate even though it is clear as the light of day outside that we can easily do something if we set our minds to it. Coincidentally, that also includes the issue of how much we weigh.
Make no mistake about it; the issue of an individual’s weight is always a national obsession, wherever you may find yourself to be. While it is a cause for concern if you find yourself being surrounded by friends who continually tell you that you only weigh a feather’s breadth, the more important issue nowadays is how much weight we have put on. It seems kind of unavoidable nowadays, what with the numerous fast food chains and junk food popping up everywhere we go. And even though when it becomes really clear that we weigh far more than what we had before, we still shrug it off and say, “Chillax brah… people my age weigh this much all the time.” It is more than a simple case of casual denial; it has now become the norm of modern nature.
But what we may feel as being just a wee bit “chubby” may prove to be something more fatal. We may not know it, but an overwhelming number of the global population is now obese. Don’t believe us? Try calculating your body mass index (BMI) on any online “calculator” you may encounter on a single click of the search engine toolbar. If your total BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9, that means you are one healthy camper. However, if you have logged in a figure ranging in between 25 to 29.9, you are now considered as an overweight individual. If you manage to break the 30 mark, then you are officially obese, my friend. Amazingly, as of 2005, the worldwide figure for obesity has been counted as to reach 400 million of the population, while the other 1.6 billion is overweight.
Now, what does that say to us as a worldwide society in general? Does it mean that we are all collectively lazy buffoons? Hardly; that is just the “occupational hazard” that comes with living and growing old in today’s world. However, there is still no reason for us to just accept the facts that we are just overweight and calmly wait for whatever may happen to us. We can change that “fate” of ours, and that is through dieting a practicing a healthy lifestyle.
We can imagine you reacting violently by now: “What?! Not again!” But indeed, if you do want to live long, you still have to put some grade-A effort to change some certain aspects in your life. You do not want to suddenly collapse in a heap in the middle of the street and with everyone just giving you passing stare like you were some bum, don’t you? Then yes, better get active now before things get too late!
Oh, and before we forget, if you feel that you need to involve yourself in a useful diet, please consult a dietician or a nutritionist on the best way to go about it.
